Oppalå

This project was actually an entry for an online design contest for an italian corporate. The initial brief was to design a home security hub thought for elderly but extendable to all the family. All the interface, components and connections were already defined and blocked by the brief. Over the time, this project has become more likewise to a gym for practicing my skills and experiment new stuff.

I focused my concept on creating a different aesthetic and appealing from the other "regular" telecare hubs for elderly people. The common aesthetic for this kind of product is not a prevailing concern for the manufacturers and this is affecting the mental health of the users who feeling themselve as non-autonomous individuals.

Oppalå project is based on two principal devices: an hub connected directly into the telephone line and one smaller wearable remote controller. Both objects share a common design language.

The next step for this project was to implement an smarter UX based more on a digital platform, allowing users to set and disactivect alarm remotely and becoming so a more reliable center for the home security.
I create a quite simple interface for the app side of Oppalå, which is more focused on the caregiver side. Then I quick prototype some shapes in a surface modeler and later on a desktop CNC.
